The Alice Springs School of the Air Visitor Centre is a multi-award winning interpretive centre located 3.5km from the CBD, which offers visitors from around the globe an exciting journey into "The World's Largest Classroom".

Since 1951 it has provided an educational resource for isolated Outback children, servicing an area of over 1.3 million square kilometres. See how technology has changed over the past 70 years.

The visitor experience includes a film, the opportunity to view a live or pre-recorded lesson in one the four broadcasting studios, and a guided presentation that reveal stories about the school and its students, sharing a distinctive history, insights into outback lifestyles and showcases world-renowned innovations of this uniquely Australian school.

Take the opportunity to visit Alice Springs School of the Air Visitor Centre and be inspired by what has been and continues to be one of the most distinctive methods of education in the world.

All funds raised in the Visitor Centre directly support Outback remote student enrichment programs.

Opening Hours:
Mondays - Fridays: 9am - 3pm
Saturdays & Sundays: Closed
Public Holidays: 1.30pm - 4.30pm
*Closed: Good Friday, 23 December 2023 - 07 January 2024 (inclusive)

ENTRY FEES APPLY:

- Adult: $14 - Child (5-16years): $11 - Family (2 adults & 2 children): $40 - Family (2 adults & up to 4 children): $50

- Seniors Concession: $13.00 Group bookings are welcome (minimum of 6 people). Please enquire directly for group rate and bookings.

Directions

The Alice Springs School of the Air Visitor Centre is located approximately 3.5km north of the Alice Springs CBD.

By Car-
Travel north along the Stuart Highway and turn left into Head Street. Continue 1km, just past the Braitling Primary School.

By public bus-
The 100 & 101 local bus departs the CBD, opposite the GPO, and stops at our door (Monday to Saturday only, no Sunday or public holiday service)

By foot-
A leisurely 40min walk from the CBD following the same route as for driving or via the Riverside Track & west along the paths from the Telegraph Station.

By Bicycle-
Hire a bike and take the same route options as for walking.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation within 48 hours will result in 100% loss of monies paid.
No Cancellation charge outside of 48 hours. Date changes are permitted up to 48 hours. Time changes are permitted at any time - please contact the Visitor Centre you booked with.
