The Tjunga Festival, pronounced tjoo-ngoo (meaning "meeting together" in local Anangu language), is a celebration of the best of Australian Indigenous culture.
In its fourth year, it is a four and a half day, family-friendly, Indigenous cultural festival that showcases a lively program that features everything, from; culture to film and art, sport, music, food and fashion.
2018 will see some of the most popular artists and ambassadors back by popular demand. These personalities will be joined by a host of emerging and established Indigenous performers, sporting heroes and artists, with an even bigger focus on local performers from Anangu country and the surrounding lands.
Ayers Rock Resort will be humming with activity from sunrise to sunset and beyond.
Highlights include:
• Local Anangu welcome to country with Inma dance
• Lively interactive markets where Indigenous artists showcase their work and traditional bush foods can be sampled
• The inspirational Tjungu Fashion Parade
• A spectacular line-up of traditional and contemporary Indigenous musicians and bands
• Exclusive outdoor desert dining experience "Tastes of Tjungu" with a contemporary bush food inspired menu and a special performance by Troy Cassar-Daley
• The engaging and uplifting Tjungu Cup, an AFL match featuring local Mutitjulu and Yulara football teams including on field entertainment.
