Situated at the Western end of the spectacular West MacDonnell Ranges, Glen Helen Homestead Lodge is the climax to a spectacular and colourful scenic drive, a little over an hour from Alice Springs.

Glen Helen is surrounded by the majestic MacDonnell Ranges, and is a destination in its own right, with easy day trip access to the whole West MacDonnell National Park, including; Palm Valley, Hermannsburg, Ormiston Gorge, Redbank Gorge, Mt Sonder, Gosse Bluff (Tnorala) and many other outstanding natural attractions. There are amazing hiking options throughout the region, with the world famous 'Larapinta Trail' on our doorstep, there's plenty of opportunity to observe the local wildlife including many bird species, rock wallabies, dingoes and lizards. Enjoy an adventurous drive along the Finke River or get a bird's eye view of the amazing natural landscape on a scenic flight from The Homestead. A one night stay is never enough!

Description

Glen Helen Lodge is the only accommodation located within the Tjoritja - West MacDonnell Ranges National Park, 130km west of Alice Springs.

This extraordinary landscape is 800 million years old and has been home to the Western Arrernte Aboriginal people for tens of thousands of years. Enjoy a haven of outback hospitality with 25 motel rooms, shared accommodation in the Stockmans Quarters, and an expansive campground.

The property has a popular local restaurant, bar/bistro, swimming pool and general store.

There is so much to see and do with a vast range of nature and bush walks, and the ‘must do’ heli flights over Glen Helen, Ormiston Gorge, and the West MacDonnell Ranges.

Directions

Driving Directions from the East (Alice Springs):
•Follow Larapinta Drive west following signs to Hermannsburg. Travel approx 50km
•Turn right onto Namatjira Drive at the Glen Helen sign
•Follow the sealed road (Namatjira Drive) 80km to the signs to Glen Helen Gorge.
•The Glen Helen Gorge/ Homestead entrance is on the left.

Driving Directions from the West (Kings Canyon- 4WD ONLY):
•Drive North from Kings Canyon on sealed road (12km) which then becomes the unsealed Larapinta Drive( Mereenie Loop Road.) Travel approx 120km.
•Turn left onto Namatjira drive, a sealed road, at signs to Tnorala and Glen Helen.
•The Glen Helen Gorge/ Homestead entrance is on the right after approx 100km.

An ensuite motel room with 1 queen bed and 2 single bunk beds, suited to a family of 2 adults and up to 2 children. Due to the room design 4 adults in this room is not recommended for comfort. It features:

Dormitory

As the original accommodation on the Glen Helen property the bunkhouse offers budget dormitory accommodation in quad share rooms.

Ideal for backpackers, school and tour groups, walkers on the Larapinta Trail or even families the accommodation is basic but includes all linen and clean shared bathrooms and is conveniently located near the camp kitchen and guest laundry.

This reasonably priced accommodation is perfect for those who don�t need all of the facilities of a motel room but would prefer a comfortable bed over a site in the campground. Stay a few days to enjoy all the great sites in the West MacDonnell Ranges.

Each rooms contains 2 sets of single bunk beds.

With powered and unpowered sites all types and sizes of vehicles are catered for. Please tell us your vehicle requirements when booking, so that we can ensure you have an appropriate site reserved.

Guests wishing to have campfires must supply their own firewood as collection is not permitted within the Glen Helen property or the West MacDonnell National Park.

As Glen Helen Homestead Lodge is a licensed venue BYO alcohol is not permitted in the caravan park. There is a large selection of reasonably priced beer, wine and spirits available at the bar for your convenience.

Well behaved pets are welcome in the park but guests are reminded of the restrictions for domestic animals in the surrounding National Park area.

Sites are available year round and reservations are recommended between April and October.

Cancellation Policy

An Administration Fee of $AUD25.00 will be charged for all cancellations in addition to any Booking Cancellation charges that apply.

Bookings cancelled greater than or equal to 31 days prior to arrival will only incur an Administration Fee of $25.

Bookings cancelled within 30 days of the arrival date will incur a Cancellation Charge of 100% of the total booking package cost in addition to an Administration Fee of $25.

No shows and cancellations after check-in - will be subject to a 100% Cancellation Fee.
