Katherine Outback Experience is now offering Horse Riding Experiences.
We tailor our Experiences to match the goals of our guests. Guests can choose whether they want a Horse Riding Experience, Lesson or both! If you are a tourist (as opposed to a Katherine Local), we recommend a Group Experience. The Private Experiences are designed for recurring lessons where the participant is seeking ongoing tuition to improve their riding skills and is only bookable directly with Katherine Outback Experience.
Lessons are designed to identify goals, strengths and weaknesses, and to build confidence in each individual. Additional lessons will be tailored according to the Rider's ability and goals.
Minimum age for Horse Riding is 3 years old and maximum weight is 120kg. Please advise if you are over 100kg so we can match a horse accordingly.
We currently limit our Groups to FOUR Riders per time-slot unless agreed otherwise with the Katherine Outback Experience Team. If your Group has more than four Riders, you may need to book back-to-back sessions. Please address this in the Booking Questions and Comments.
Due to high demand, you are not guaranteed a specific time-slot for the Horse Riding Experience when booking through the Visitor Centre. Once your booking is complete, the Katherine Outback Experience Team will contact you directly to lock in the best available time slot for the experience. We are happy to hold timeslots while your booking is processed. We recommend adding additional notes to your booking such as other bookings and where you are travelling from to assist us with easily identifying options for you. Please understand we are doing our best to manage bookings using two booking systems and to allow instant confirmation.
Description
Multiple Golden Guitar winner Tom Curtain's Katherine Outback Experience show offers a unique insight into life on Australian outback cattle stations, highlighting the important role of working dogs and horses in the pastoral industry. Working on outback cattle stations away from the modern comforts of TV and internet, inspired Tom to pen his first songs. In November 2017, Tom released his third album 'Territory Time' that debuted at No.1 on the Australian iTunes Country Music Chart. The first song released, 'Never Never Land' went on to win two Golden Guitar awards (highest accolade in Australian Country Music) at the 2018 Tamworth Country Music Awards for Toyota Heritage Song of the Year and CMC Video Clip of the Year. Tom’s passion for training animals, combined with his love of music inspired him to launch Katherine Outback Experience in 2013, providing guests with a sense of what goes on in the outback, often behind closed doors.
Come and watch the team start a young untrained horse, work the cattle dogs and sing a few Aussie anthems, often from the saddle. Children are invited to interact with the station animals - some of which are unique to the outback. The show is in a constant state of evolution, with new animals and acts being introduced on a weekly basis. No two shows are the same.
An experience not to be missed that will leave you with a greater understanding and appreciation of the everyday men and women who live and work in the outback.
